Nigeria: one of Africa’s largest economies with a diverse cultural background. So diverse in fact, Nigeria’s music, entertainment, and popular culture seem to have spread their influence to every corner of the globe.
Nigeria also has one of Africa’s most vibrant Hip Hop cultures. Boasting a long list of notable lyricists that includes Modenine, M.I, Eva, Sasha and Show Dem Camp (Ghost & Tek) that can easily stand toe to toe with the best artists in the world.
For over a year now I have been keeping my eye on a new lyricist that has the skills comparable to the notable Nigerian rappers I mentioned earlier.
Though her body of work is very limited, Twistberry has impressed me a great deal since I first heard her song MSM in 2016. Her unmistakeable voice, wordplay, and delivery have affixed her name firmly on my “Artists to Watch” list.
Recently I got hold of the lady known as BELLO OMOTOLANI to discuss how She started in music, and her dreams.
HOTNOBS: WHO IS TWISTBERRYTWISTBERRY: Okay.! Twist berry is my stage name, my name is Bello omotolani, am a female entertainer, I wouldn't say rapper of singer since I do both.
HOTNOBS: OK BUT WHICH WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE ADDRESSED AS?
TWISTBERRY: Lol.....as a rapper for now, for singing I haven't really found myself, I do the patois thing quite alright but don't like it when peeps be like is that Cynthia Morgan? Its extremely annoying, so am trying to find myself, in the singing part, and probably switch.
HOTNOBS: WHY DO YOU WANT TO SWITCH FROM RAPPING?
TWISTBERRY: Am not going to switch, am going to do both pattern...Rather I do both, I sing and rap
HOTNOBS: SO HOW DID THE NAME TWISTBERRY COME ABOUT?
TWISTBERRY; Lol... Have always had to answer this question, its funny how it came to be ....to cut the history short I actually named my self twist because I think I talk really fast like twister the rapper and am not bad at dancing also , then for berry I got it from my surname and also berry is d sweet side of me. I can be so nice at times

TWISTBERRY: Hmm, okay My parent are educated disciplinarians lol, am the 4th child outta 5children, we are from Ogun state, I started composing and writing at age 12, started music professionally at age 16 till date am still making music lol...

TWISTBERRY: I don't have a management, neither am I under a record label, I just have frnds and family Supporting me as a brand yea and a team called (Brains behind a Barbian) Lol

TWISTBERRY: Many fans had given me their honest thoughts and impressions which has been positive so far, they say its a nice song, I guess they like the whole drama behind it and its story nd realness, unlike other braggadocios rap songs out there now
