If you’ve ever been on a flight, you’ll know that once flight attendants finish their routine choreography, they’ll ask passengers to switch their phones off while the plane takes off.
And in this age, that surely must annoy you because nobody has been able to Snapchat the moment their plane takes off.
But what would actually happen if a mobile phone is left on during a flight?
The answer, according to this pilot is nothing.
According to First Officer Chris Foster who spoke with the Liverpool Echo, airplanes are so sophisticated nowadays that fears of mobile phones causing a disruption are unfounded.
‘In reality, nothing to be concerned about. Aircraft control systems are so sophisticated now, that they wouldn’t cause any interference.
‘The regulations date back many years to when we didn’t even have things like iPads. The laws are starting to be relaxed – you can now use your devices in flight safety mode – and I think we’ll see more changes over the next few years,’ he said.
It makes sense, because already there are aircrafts that have wifi service.
No plane has crashed because a passenger was Instagramming at 30,000ft.
